“Where’s Dave?” 2.0

Hampton by Hilton Sponsorship Campaign

Campaign Concept

Following the success of introducing ‘Dave’ and his friends to the UK market in 2018, we were asked to develop and extend the campaign to support the 2019 brand challenge raising meaningful awareness of the Hampton by Hilton brand amongst a UK audience, using the global ‘Real Travel’ platform in a relevant way in the UK.

In line with the media-plan, we created a new suite of stories documenting Dave’s travels; demonstrating real travel occasions and hotel USPs that were derived from insight on guests’ desires. We shot a series of fun holiday and travel-related scenarios in which our protagonists seem to find themselves – wedding, parties, trips abroad, festivals and sporting events. Unbeknownst to his two pals, our third character ‘Dave’ has bailed, and sensibly checked into a Hampton by Hilton hotel and is enjoying a comfy bed, a nice drink and a filling breakfast.

The campaign ran across a hero sponsorship of Channel 5’s Travel & Adventure programming, with supporting always-on paid social on Facebook & Instagram. The initial results demonstrated a 17% pts lift in prompted awareness, 15% pts lift in brand consideration and increased social engagement of 20%.

It’s important that our campaigns have 360 impact and engage internal teams as much as consumers, so we also developed a short film to tell the story of the campaign, to bring the work to life for on-property teams.
